    Windows LogIn

I know how to do this, but there is something missing when I do it. When I type in Netplwiz, a box comes up. Before, in order to stop logging in, I would uncheck a little box and fill out the required information, hit apply and go on my merry way. I had to reinstall windows last night, and for the life of me, that little check box is gone, missing. So what else can I do. The computer does recognize me as the admin.

This appears to be a bug in 2004. A clean install turns on passwordless sign-in and you need to turn it off to get the checkbox in Netplwiz, unfortunately the option to turn this off is missing in Settings. You can fix this in Regedit.

My clean install has the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device key and DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion is set to 2 (which means ON according to the tutorial). Setting it to 0 restores the checkbox in Netplwiz.

So my problem ... is that a) my clean install defaults to 'ON' for that setting, and b) I do not get the switch to turn it off in Accounts > Sign-in options.
