How do I change my user folder name

Windows 10 - The latest version.
I messed up somehow and my user folder is now called "shang" ... go figure. However, I'd like it to be at least "Robert" or maybe even "RobertChalmers" but can't seem to find a way to change it.

    /Users/shang to /Users/Robert

Does anyone know of an easy way to do that?

Hello, this is a recurrent question, but non-trivial to solve.

    This
Change Name of User Profile Folder in Windows 10

Before attempting such significant changes ensure you have a current disk image just in case.
E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + external disk for image files
Disk imaging is so so frequently recommended by tenforums members.

Usually this is due to setting up Windows initially with a Microsoft account. The user folder name is always the first five characters of the email address.

Dalchina has told you how to change the folder name (and just how difficult it can be to do correctly).

If you have only just set up this machine the it is probably easier (and certainly a lot safer) to create a new local account in the name you want (remember to make it an administrator). You could then, if you are using a MS account, switch the "shang" account to a local account and the new account to a MS account.

Once you have a new account with a user folder in the name you want you can copy any documents, photos or other files you need from the "sheng" user folder to the new one.

Add Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10
