    User setting

In my User folder I have two users besides Default and Public, UserA and UserB
User B is really my primary and UserA was created some time ago when I was
playing around. MOst programs I use have the Preference option to specify
where my files are stored. If that is not the case the storage location
defaults to UserA. As well as all the folders under "MY PC". I would
like to just get rid of User A but can't figure out where to set the
user setting. Can you provide assistance?

Hi, normally user A's folders cannot be seen by user B and vice versa e.g. those in user library folders and more. Programs you've installed either under user B or for 'all users' should remain if you delete user A.

You shouldn't normally therefore be able to have a program running when logged in as user B saving data in folders in user A's libraries for example. (Documents, Videos etc).

So I'm not sure what you think you need when you say
    where to set the
    user setting.

how does Windows know to use A or B? If I C-A-D and select switch user the choices are the MS account and a "local"

Which user has access to a particular library or folder is dictated by permissions.

Let me rephrase. If I click on an icon and select open files are in the User A directory. If I click on an other icon files are in the User B directory. I don't understand how that happens. It might be explained if I was given an User A or User B log in option but that does not happen

Let's try this a slightly different way and collect some clear information.

Please post a screenshot like this:
    User setting-1.jpg

These are the user profile folders. In your screenshot, can you recognise any of yours as belonging to your User A and User B?

Consider the path to the files you are concerned about.
Inspect one you think relates to User A. E.g rt click a shortcut, Properties. Does the path contain User A's profile folder name?

Repeat for one for User B.

    Please quote these two paths.
Do these paths contain the folder name related to User A and User B?

When you boot up, are you presented with a login prompt of any description?
Or when you resume from sleep, for example?

there are some days s/w drives me nuts. I save the selection as a jpg and when I try to insert image and unload I get a msg "this png file has the wrong extension." Then I save as a png and I get a msg "this jpg file has the wrong extension" ARG

I solved that problem by opening the Paint generate .jpg into another program and saved as a jpg which over rode the Paint verson. The insert image routine took it

    C:\Users\PDroof\Documents\TurboTax

    C:\Users\Peter\Documents\Quicken

No options when booting, just the standard MS account login. That being said If I properties on an icon w/o a shortcut, PDRoof is the user. If i C-A-D and switch user I am given two options: MS account and local. Selecting local gives me a different desktop and properties shows Peter as the user. But how did the OS make these assignments to begin with? And how do I change the assignment?

Hi, That clearly shows your two user profile folders. Thanks.

I'll assume you mean 'how were the two accounts configured'?
Well, you will have created one when Windows was installed, then another later. You would have chosen to configure them either with a MS Live id (MS account) or a local account.

Can you confirm you see both as options on your initial logon screen?

I can't clearly understand some things you say..

The last sentence sounds like a normal user switch - from PDroof to Peter

Sorry, don't understand what you're doing- would need a screenshot. Here's Paint's save dialogue:
