PIN log in without pressing enter

Windows 10.

I have one PC that I enter my PIN and it logs in without my having to press the "enter" key.
I have another PC that I enter my PIN and then must press "enter" before it logs in.

What do I need to change to get the 2nd PC to log in like the 1st PC (not having to press enter)?

I think you'll find that the 'pin' that requires the enter key is in fact a password - unless the entry field says 'PIN' inside, in which case i am sorry for insulting your intelligence.

I have observed the same issue with my old Dell laptop. I'm pretty secure about myself but just to be precise, I fired up the old machine and guess what? The lockscreen is configured for a PIN entry and it did require me to press enter in order to login.
I'm a bit curious why myself, why is the Dell different than my MSI that doesn't require an enter after the PIN entry?. :-p

After several installations of windows 10 with either local account or microsoft account, i found out that:
- If installed with local account: Login requires "PIN" (password) AND Enter.
- If installed with MS account: Login requires only PIN.

Yes. I don't understand either. I assumed the "PIN" was controlled by Win 10, but 1 PC is a Dell (no need to press enter), the other is an Asus (must press enter key to accept PIN).
Of course, this is no big deal. I just thought there might be an easy Windows setting for this. It is nicer to login without the "enter".

Whilst I obviously don't understand what is going on with your PCs, my 3 PCs work without 'enter' on both local and MS accounts. Is it worth changing the pin to make sure it is a repeatable effect? I have read about it elsewhere, but not seen a clear solution.

Both my laptops use a ms account, have a different PIN (were once same & I changed one), are 64 bit, running version 1809.

2009 Dell requires enter after the PIN
2018 MSI does not require enter after the PIN
