    Windows Hello and Email

    Hello,

Noticed that when setting up MS Outlook with email - Outlook/Hotmail, Windows-10 now needs the account to be associated in Hello. Why is that?

Does not happen for emails that are non-MS.

The machine has a Local Account and is not set up with a MS email account and has Win-10 1909.

What does "associated in Hello" mean? What are you being asked to do during setup?

I get a pop-up that in order to open this email account in Outlook, I need to associate it with Hello.

The email was already there in outlook and had been working fine. But after updates last year, for whatever reason, MS seems to have added an association in Windows Hello with Outlook for outlook/hotmail accounts

Thanks, but that link suggests to have Windows under local account which is what I have.

I removed the account association under System-UserAccounts-EmailAndAccounts and get the following popups when starting Outlook:

Why is this a problem for you? You could just set a PIN and be done with it.

The question was - Why does one need to do this now? Is this a way for MS to indirectly associate email with computer even when computer has been set up with local account?

Its fine if you don't think its a problem... I think it is...
