No way to login at boot (sometimes)

    Greetings,

The Wifey has an issue that comes and goes. It's such an almost NOT issue that I haven't bothered to mention it in these parts. It only happens sometimes, and as y'all know it never happens when I try it. lol

Basically she boots her Asus laptop and the screen that's supposed to show the time and date and login in background wallpaper fails. Only the wallpaper arrives, nothing else. Hit any key and nothing happens. She resorts to CTRL ALT DEL and that 'frees' it and she can login. It's a decent workaround, of course, but does anyone know this issue?

The net (annoyingly) suggests a refresh re-install in place thing. But little else. SFC's come back fine. Should I be trying a DISM anyway? Even if SFC is reporting nothing?

    Any steak tips? TIA

    Hey mate,

Running the DISM command most likely wouldn't do any good since it's only for repairing the Component Store that is used by SFC.

If you haven't already, you might see if turning off Fast Startup, and restarting the computer afterwards may help. Sometime Fast Startup can cause odd issues similar to this.
