How best Sync (local) User Accounts across devices NOT using MS Cloud?

    Hi folks,
In a Home/Small Office context I'd like to be able to synchronise my User Account info (UID, Username, Password, etc.) across several (Windows 10 and W7) laptops, a NAS, etc. but NOT by using Microsoft Accounts or One Cloud, or indeed any off-site solution. Installing an Active Directory Server (like a business/ enterprise setup) seems overkill and fiddly to maintain. Any advice/suggestions please?

I know I could use Microsoft's Windows 10's Sync features using MS Account users - but I really don't want to share my details/data with Microsoft!!!

    Many thanks...

Hi and welcome to TenForums. Without any additional software you can setup a Peer To Peer network in Windows 10 and you can share between multiple Windows 10 system.

How To Setup A Peer-To-Peer Network In Windows 10?

Hello Lance1 and Jacee, and thank you for your replies.

How would "File Syncing" or "Peer to Peer" help keep my local User Account on different home Windows computers synchronized so they are effectively the same user account (as using an MS User Account would do or using an AD network user account would do)?
I can see how they would sync files, but the user account identity?

    Best wishes...

Hi Folks - my question is absolutely NOT about file syncing - unless some of the tools you're suggesting also have local User Account ID syncing capability? Or am I missing some deep technical aspect here?

I need to make my Local Windows User Account ID identical (i.e. the same Account) across Windows laptops/etc., if that's possible. I.e. so that regardless of which laptop I log in on I'm the same User identity. (And yes I may also file sync my profile across too.) I need other things (NAS etc.) to see one User account Identity for me, not different ones from each laptop (because they're local user accounts).

I know I could do it by using an MS AD network domain User account, or by using a Microsoft User account.
But can it be done efficiently locally without setting up an MS AD domain server etc.?

    Ian,

You cannot 'sync' the account identity.

Local accounts exist entirely separately on different computers.
