    Windows 10 sign in requirement

Microsoft should make the W10 sign in requirement optional. I can understand the security necessity in an office or other working environment, but there are many situations where this type of security is not an issue and the sign in is just an added inconvenience.
I was able to remove my W10 PIN Sign-in in at Sign in Options under Accounts. However, that created an even greater nuisance by requiring my Microsoft account sign in. I noticed an earlier post has outlined steps to remove the account sign in using netplwiz and some registry mods. Is this the way I should proceed now to get W10 to come from boots and sleep without human intervention ?

    Lee,

For restarting your computer, use netplwiz. You don't need anything else so I do not know what Registry changes you were referring to. netplwiz is explained in Sign in User Account Automatically - TenForumsTutorials

Signing in / avoiding signing in after waking up is a different matter. See Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup - TenForumsTutorials

    Hello Lee,

No need to mess with the registry. You can just use netplwiz in option 1 of the tutorial below to have Windows automatically sign in to your account at startup.

In addition, you may also want to turn off require sign in on wakeup below.

Or, switch to a local account with no password.

I use a local account with no password on most of my machines, but the OP has an MS account so that's not an option for them.

One little problem with not having a password is that the option to Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10 is missing. You have to set a password in order to see it, turn off 'required sign-in' then set back to a blank password again.

You can convert a MS account login to a local account.

Indeed you can swop/convert from an MS Account sign in to a Local Account and vice versa, this has been the case for Windows 8.1 and onwards.

User Local Account no password thus:
Settings > Accounts > Family and other users > Add someone else > I don't have this person's sign-in information > Add user without a Microsoft account.
Then enter Username in the top box and just do not enter any Passwords in the boxes below "Make it secure" > Next.

That's it, apart from numerous privacy boxes coming up, and a long wait.
In this case you just click on the Username on coming out of sleep.

Here's the link that I was referring to for info on removing sign in requirements using mods to the registry as one of several methods.
