User Accounts Backup from Win7&Transfer to Win10

A friend of mine is mothballing his 8 yr. old Windows7 PC and just bought a new Windows10 PC.I am in charge of the task in backing up all his files and folders especially the "Three User Accounts" he had on his old computer. What is the best software that's reliable and good to backup his "User Accounts" and files and transfer them to his new Win10 PC so when he boots the computer up the logon screen shows the user accounts choice's like he had before?

There are some good ideas here:

How to Migrate a Windows User to Different Windows 10 PC

And you always have the option to create the 3 accounts on the new PC, copy the user files from the old PC to an external drive, then one-by-one copy the data onto the new PC. If the accounts use a Microsoft Account, their settings will be migrated.

I think you'll find multiple options, depending on how complex the setup is. Sometimes manually is the best choice, gives you control as you go.

Others will have ideas on this.

Thanks for the info..I was thinking the same thing..Create all three user accounts manually on the new pc and backup each user account on the old one which I did already with Macrium Reflect file and folder backup to a usb hard drive. Then later restore the files to each account.

Be a little cautious with the restore from Macrium file backup. The structure on 10 is a bit different than 7, in the user files. Folders like Documents, Pictures, Videos, those things. There are some OneDrive considerations, too. Whole different subject. You probably will be better off to "Mount" the MR images and copy the data manually from the user folder to the new user folder.

Now would be the perfect opportunity to separate the user data files to a separate partition or drive. Makes this processes much easier in the future. In my desktop computers, the user data files are on second, physical drives. When I built my new computer, the data drive itself from the old computer just got moved over. It also makes it much easier to re-install Windows in the future, if needed.
