There is only one account on my Windows 10.
There is only one account on my Windows 10.
To simplify the matter, I have just removed my Windows Hello PIN.
The "_" in the user name is an MS internal thing, to avoid embedded spaces in SID strings. Whatever is displayed on that second screen, just leave it alone. You enter the password associated with your Hotmail account, twice to confirm it.
You only have one account on the machine. I also have a PIN. I have mine setup exactly as described above and in previous posts. The PIN is not stored at MS or in the cloud anywhere. It is total stored locally and goes nowhere else. Simply a shorthand method of account verification.
If the First NETPLWIZ screen has the correct Hotmail account, and the second screen has your user name correctly (ignore the "_"), simply enter the password associated with your MS account. There's no other way to do this. It should work if all is entered correctly.
You made no stupid mistake! I very likely would done the same thing -- because such is new to me.
It says "You can set up your computer so that users do not have to type a user name and password to sign in."
I am a poorly-educated Chinese guy whose English comprehension is terribly poor. Does it specify that I have to enter the password for my hotmail account shown under "User Account"?
Matthew, if I understand this correctly, that is used to sign in to your Microsoft Account On Line. It has no connection to the sign-in/log on to Windows, which you have fixed.
If you go to your MS account on-line in any way, you will need to enter your password, not PIN, password.
The NETPLWIZ we did the other day was ONLY for the log in to Windows on your machine, nothing else.
Password will be required any time you want to sign in to your Microsoft Account, or any of it's areas, such as OneDrive, Outlook, etc.
Hope this helps.
