Permission For My Own User Folder On Different Computer
Hi - i searched for this but didn't find anything related to my exact situation
I have a win 10 Pro laptop that won't boot - not sure why...
Anyway, I took the SSD out, and used a USB adapter to get the files onto another computer. The drive loads fine and is visible on the second computer
I was able to get some of the files.., so the SSD is working.., but I can not get into my user folder - the folder at Users>my_user_id
I do get a message that say something like "you don't have permission to access this folder - click here to be granted permanent access". When I click there.., a progress bar scrolls (very) slowly at the top of the window, but nothing happens - i can not open the folder...
If it matters:
there was only one user on the original laptop - me, and i had administrator privileges
there was no password or security of any kind on the original laptop
i have administrator privileges on the computer i am using to read the SSD
That second computer is win 7 -
i have done this in the past (not with this SSD) to migrate files to a new laptop and never had trouble
thanks - i appreciate any help getting to my files

Just in case anyone finds this thread in the future...
After waiting a really long time - even after the progress bar at the top of the window completed.., it eventually opened the folder and listed all the contents.
I now have access to the folder.., so the "click here to grant permanent access" did work in the end.
