Unable to login to Windows 10

I have a Desktop with Windows 10 Pro and all of a sudden the login stopped working.

Not able to login to Windows 10 and the bios that use the same password.

Password hasn't been changed at all. Have been using the same password since I got the Desktop.

What kind of error message do you get when you try to login?

Finally able to login to Windows 10

Just that the password was incorrect.

I finally was able to login to the bios and Windows after removing the hard drive (I was able to login to the bios). I then removed the bios password and power on password and then disabled the password manager.

I was able to boot to Windows 10 login and use my Windows 10 password which was the same as my previous bios and power on password, that was disabled from the bios.

While logging into Windows 10 I was prompted to enter a security code that occurs after too many login attempts. After entering the security code provided by Windows 10 login I was then able to login using my Windows 10 password.

Uncertain what happened as previously I was logging into Windows 10 ok after entering the bios password, getting past the bios power on pass, all of which were the same password. (windows 10 and the bios pass)

I think there may be something not quite right with the bios as I seem to remember a few times that I was able to previously access the bios without entering a bios password. However I didn't really pay attention to any of it and can't say for certain.

But I do remember a few times on other Lenovo desktops and seem to remember the current Thinkcenter M93P being able to access the bios without a bios password even though a bios and admin password was enabled.

However the bios password doesn't seem to effect the Windows password on the current Thinkcenters and Thinkstations.

Older Thinkstations such as e.g. the M55 the Fingerprint reader software was part of the security and backup software (Client Security Solution) which included an option for the fingerprint reader to allow one to get past the bios and the Windows login using one swipe of a finger upon reboot.

This one finger swipe option for the fingerprint reader software seems to have been removed as with the M93p I've only been able to login into Windows after two swipes of the finger, one for the bios during bootstrapping and another finger swipe during Windows login.

Did this password by any chance include one or more of these characters: @ " # \
If so, then your keyboard layout may somehow have switched from US English to UK English (those characters change places, only half-way reasonable explanation I can think of).

No my password for the bios and Windows has only been numbers.

I'm currently using a Logitech Wireless keyboard and mouse MK320 which apparently is US based, nothing about UK or another country. The Windows software is Logitech Setpoint, latest version.

    --------

I think perhaps something got temporarily messed up with the bios and perhaps the fingerprint reader software which apparently at one time had a link or or some sort of connection to Windows.

Windows does have access to the bios of which may have some sort of access to Windows. How these fingerprint readers operate in conjunction to passwords, bios and Wndows imo is questionable. The bios and readers do store data of some sort, some bios firmware there are options to clear data and passwords. I'm not really up on it so can't say anything for certain.

OK, just a passing thought. Those particular key move around from country to country. Numbers don't though

    (shift lock got activated??)
