User Profile Service Service failed! User profile cannot be loaded.

How can I recover from this error message?

I click on OK, and then see the sign on screen again prompting me to enter my MS password. Not able to login as this repeats .....

    regards,
    VinceB.

No joy, as I am not able to get into Win10's Safe Mode after being returned to the signin screen.

I am using a DELL XPS8700 Desktop, normally. Is it a specific combination of keys (F-key) that I need to use?

One week after doing the Win 10 upgrade, I am getting this error (above). I made a restore point, and wonder if I am able to use it w/o lost of data files?

Do I need to be in safe mode to do the restoration?
    Should I use Advanced Options-refresh of win10 ( only)?

My recent efforts failed to solve this issue.

After trying to to go back to a restore point, which was made immediately after the upgrade, after trying to reset this PC, and after trying the built-in WIN10 Auto Repair, I have not been successful in solving this problem. I tried this all while NOT in Safe Mode; but used shift-click Restart from the signin screen to access Trubleshooting routines.

    • Restore Point option was unable to reload a specific file
    • PC Reset option had a problem; no joy!
    • Auto Repair routine failed; no joy.

At the time of doing the Win8.1 to Win 10 upgrade, I made an ISO copy oF the D/L onto DVD. Can that be of help to re-instalL Win10 over the existing?

Does anyone know of a Registry hack that would allow the use of a stored .bakup of the User Profile?

    Regards,

    Hello Vince,

Were you able to try what's in the note box under step 1 to enable the built-in Administrator account to do the tutorial while signed in to that account?

    Brink:
I am using registry editor from command prompt. Drilled down to c:windows\system32\config inside the Load Hive dialog window. Have selected (checked box) the SAM file; clicking on Open opens error message that says:

    SAM
    This file is in use.
Enter a new name or close the file that's open in another program.

    _______

I am at a loss, since I am not running any other program!

    Any suggestions?

The SAM file is listed as being 64KB file size.

Open a command prompt at boot using OPTION ONE below with installation media instead. This way it shouldn't be in use. :)
