    Brink:
I am attempting to boot from the ESD-ISO DVD. Not certain that I will be able to repeat!

at present I have on screen:
    Open window title.
Look in: CD Drive (D:) ESD-ISO

I am able to see list of files, which include folders with names of: boot, efi, sources, and support. The only application file name shown in root directory is: setup.

Clicking on setup did nothing, other than exit this window listing!
There is also an auto run file in the root; does nothing; exits window!

    Any ideas?

No, I do not presently have a 4GB USB flash drive, nor access to a real computer.
unless a Crome Netbook (CB3-111-C8UB), which does have a USB port, can be of some use? But I know nothing about its OS,

OK, I will get a suitable USB drive on Tuesday evening at COSTCO, and try again with daughter's Win8 laptop on Wednesday.

    Brink:

I am uncertain that this is correct file, which I now have on a USB flash drive, for me to use. It's size is only 19,272 KB.

Am I to run it on my daughter's laptop, or is this file to be used on my broken PC?

You would want use the USB on your PC to be able to do the steps to hopefully fix your PC.

Ok, I am now d/l'ing to the flash drive, using my daughter's laptop. When I get back home, hopefully It will help to fix the Dell PC.

    7% complete now!

    Do I need a Recovery USB ?

    I believe I now have a Win10 USB!

Since I cannot sign onto my DELL PC, would a Recovery USB flash drive be of any use to me? (Remember, user profile service failed at sign on). I believe a recovery drive must be created when my PC is working properly, right?

I have access to a working Win8 laptop once per week only. Today I have my external USB HDD and also one remaining 32GB flash drive with me. Any suggestions for what to d/l onto that External HDD or flash drive from the Internet?

That's ok. You can boot from the Windows 10 USB on your PC to open a command prompt at boot, then enable the built-in Administrator account to sign in to and do the rest of the steps in the tutorial below.

ok! I hope the USB does better than the ISO DVD, which led me to a SAM file in use issue.
