Locked out of MS Account because of failed (?)Three Security Questions

I'm locked out of my Window 10 Microsoft Account after not using the computer for two months. I re-set the password but then it didn't work. So I tried recovering my account and was asked to answer three security questions I'd previously entered. When I entered them, I got a message they weren't accurate. I tried spelling one of the answers different ways to see if it would work, but no luck. I'm certain that the security answers I entered are correct. What gives?

I'm so fed up right now and feeling a little desperate because I can't get into some important documents, and into my 43,000 photos , some of which I need to edit now for professional reasons.

What can I do to get access to my MS Account again? The only thing I have access to right now is the Administrator account, but that doesn't help because I have no files in that account.

    Welcome to the TenForums @Howdie

If you have access to the built in admin you should be able to navigate to C:\users and find your data, assuming you are not storing in Onedrive. Start with "This PC", then double click c:. You should see c:\user

    Find your user account.

As to getting in, go to account.microsoft.com

Say forgot password again and choose a different way to verify. Hopefully you used a recovery email account.

Ken, thanks alot for stating that I can access all my files through my Administrator account. That was very good news, a big relief to get access to all my document files! One big drawback with this, though, is that I can’t edit any photo files. In my original “lost” account, all my photo files had been imported into Lightroom Classic, the photo editing software I use to edit all my photos.

This means that I would have to re-import my 43,000 photo files into Lightroom before I can begin to do any editing. That would entail probably several days of work since Lightroom only works accurately when importing much smaller batches of photos at a time.

Originally, I got all messed up and ‘lost’ my account, I now realize, when I misspelled one of the three security questions the dialogue box asked for. Do you know how I can get back to being asked to insert those three security questions? I’ve tried to find it, but no luck. Being able to correctly spell the answers to those three questions could potentially SOLVE ALL MY PROBLEMS quickly and easily! That is, if some newly created accounts I’ve made haven’t overridden it.

Let me back up, a minute, Ken. I’m not sure I was correct when I said I couldn’t get into my “MS Account.” I can’t get into my original acct where for years I’ve done all my work, but not sure now that it is a “MS Acct;” or a “Local Acct,” which I’ve just recently heard about. How can I tell what kind of acct all my original work might be in, so that I can try the right techniques for retrieving that acct?

I did, as you suggested, go to ‘account.microsoft.com’ and was able to set up a new MS acct with a new password which I reset. However, that didn’t give me my original account.

An MS account always looks like an email address.

I will admit I'm now lost I'm lost.

Not sure what you mean you went to account.microsoft.com and set up new account and rest its password.

The goal was to go to account.microsoft.com and enter your "Original" account and go through the I forgot.

When you went to account.microsoft.com and entered old user name and said I forgot password what happen.
