Deleting Win 10 child user account without losing data or his games

Hi,

How can I remove childs Windows 10 user account, but without losing his data (word documents, photoshop files etc) and without his games etc. ??
He is now allowed to use my "administrator" login/account to use the computer and I want his files, games, apps, programs etc next to my files, apps programs in Windows.
How can I do this?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You could back up the user files to an external device for insurance, make the changes to the account and then copy them over.

Or you could create the new account, copy the files from the old to the new one then remove the old one.

Where can I find ALL the files, games etc to back them up to an external device?

Or what I prefer: I already have an account (administrator account). How can I move his files to/under my account?

You wish to transfer files (apps and settings) from one user account to another. Follow the steps:

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Select System and Security and then System.
3. Click Advanced System Settings.
4. Under User Profiles, click Settings.
5. Select the profile you want to copy.
6. Click Copy to, and then enter the name of, or browse to, the profile you want to overwrite. This will usually be in C:\Users\username, where username is the name of the profile to which you are copying.
7. Click Permitted to use, and then add all user accounts to which you want to give full profile control.
8. Click OK.

Thats a bit difficult as games store their files in various places. You will need to do some research on each game and confirm for yourself that its indeed correct on your system. For example games can use Appdata, your Document folder, some older ones can use Saved Games folder, and some other odd places.

Hmm, too complicated. In this case is maybe keeping the old way (he has his account and I have mine) is the best way??
