A couple of weeks ago I upgraded to 1903, no issues at all...
Today when I first turned on today it came up with a smaller blue screen then asked me to set up things like a PIN and connect to my phone.. anyone else had this?
No updates have been done since yesterday when it was all OK and just started as normal with my password...
Now I need to use a PIN..

Hi, sigining in with a PIN is optional. Whatever you do, make sure you still know your password- you can't sign in to Safe Mode with a PIN.

As to why it prompted you...? There was a bug in 1803, but you have 1903.

I will take a look, just seemed strange after a couple of weeks it asked me, the screen had a blue screen in the centre and a black surround, once I added the PIN it works fine
PIN over Password is the way MS is moving. Stupid yes if only using a four digit pin. If you use a Local account, you do not need the pin. A Microsoft account yes.No more passwords? Windows 10 1903 is close to that goal, claims Microsoft | ZDNet
