    I'll close with this

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP

The first thing you need to do now is backup your current install. The best way to do this is to use Macrium Reflect Free to make an image backup to an external hard drive. If you don't have an external hard drive now is a good time to get one as regular backup should be a part of your normal process. You can get a 1TB external hard drive for $60 (less if on sale).

I just found this thread. I have been dealing with a similar issue for a couple of months. I have been attempting to upgrade from Windows 10 1809 to 1903. After the upgrade completes, I am left with two userid files under C:Users. One is my userid that now contains only one file under Appdata/Local/NPE, a file that did not exist before the upgrade. Everything else is in userid.000. I have restored to 1809 and tried the upgrade again twice. The last time with 1909. The same problem happens. I am not getting an error when I sign into Windows. My profile now points to userid.000. Some things work and other, like Outlook, do not. The programs that don't work are looking for C:Users/userid which is empty.

I have read and reread this thread and I think I understand what I have to do to rename the userid path in regedit. My ProfileImagePath is pointing to userid.000. Before I attempt this change, I have a question. What happens to all my data that is stored under userid.000? Once I change the profile path what happens to all my data stored under userid.000 or will it automatically be moved back to userid?

I appreciate any and all help. I have been tearing my hair out trying to fix this. I can revert back to 1809 and all will work AOK, until MS decides to force the upgrade. I don't want to have to do a reinstall and/or reset, I have programs installed that I don't have the source to reinstall them. Thanks again for any and all help.
