    Windows 10 Login issue

Hi all. Hopefully my issue can be solved easily, but it is an issue that I've never encountered before. Basically, I just fired up my desktop PC and when I input the password, it isn't accepted by Windows, even though every other machine, laptop's, Xbox's, accounts on my phone and tablet, all accept the current password, just not my desktop. So just to ensure I was inputting the correct password, I went into my Windows account on my laptop and changed the password. That's fine, it worked, and I can still sign in to every device I own, except of course my Desktop PC. It's doing my head in. I've tried holding shift and restarting so I could start the repair options, and I tried resetting the machine, right back to getting rid of everything, apps and settings included, but nothing works, at some point I always end up having to put a password in, even after supposedly resetting the machine. I even updated it by clicking on the restart/off button on the screen, didn't change a thing.
I guess the only thing I haven't done is try to recover, or reinstall the OS using a system image. I'd prefer to not have to reinstall, but if that's my only option so be it. Hopefully though, someone here will be able to help me before I take that step.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi

So it very much sounds like you are signing into your desktop with a Microsoft account. Could you confirm that and that it is not a local account.

On the sign in page in the lower right does your network icon show you are connected with no issues?

After you type your password into your desktop and before you click enter you will notice a little icon in the password box. Looks like an eye (at least I think that is what they were going for).

If you use your mouse and click on the eye your password should be revealed in clear text. Is it what you thought you typed in?

Should also ask, is your data safely backed up from this desktop?

    Windows 10 login issue

Hi Caledon Ken, thanks for the reply. I can confirm that I am indeed trying to log in to my Windows account and not a local account. I've never used any computers with a local account unless I've had to set one up for admin account deletion. And yes, I can also confirm that the internet is connected, via Ethernet cable as well, and I was able to update without logging in as that was a suggestion I found when looking up solutions to this issue. When I changed my password I also verified it on the laptop as apparently that is needed in order to sync your login details to any machine you want to login to.
    Cheers.

When you keyed your password did you click on the "Eye" icon to the right and confirm it is being keyed correctly. Not that you are keying wrong, could be keyboard or language issue.

Yes I did click on the eye, and after I'd changed my password.

BTW, I didn't have any important stuff on this install. I was simply using it as a gaming pc with two Sandisk 240gb SSD's running in RAID 0. A bit of an experiment to see if I could game at a decent frame rate without having to replace my old GTX 570. Anyway, It's now BSODing. I think somehow the files deep within may have become corrupted. Not sure how though, possibly through an update??? But I can't even recover it through the WinRE environment

So I've decided to make a recovery disc on another pc and hopefully repair the install that way.

Last thing I can think of is to try old password(s).

We have tutorial that allows you to enable the built in admin and then you could set up new user. I would go with local user.

Enable or Disable Elevated Administrator account in Windows 10

    Using option 5

I normally set up a second local admin user when I use local accounts. I wonder if I should be doing this for MS accounts as well.

Let's see if another member has a way to get your MS account running.

Hi all. So it seems there was simply no way of getting round the issue I had as somehow the boot file or something along those lines had become corrupted and as such, regardless of the fact that I was able to update the OS without logging in, there was no way I was able to actually get into the system, at every single attempt, didn't matter what tool I was using from the repair menu, I was met with the same roadblock where it wanted a password. So I ended up going to the Microsoft website and downloading the recovery iso and burned that onto a DVD, set the system to boot from the DVD drive, and reinstalled the system onto a single 120gb SSD drive, and created a RAID 0 array with the other two SSD's I have in the system. I'll use the raid array to install and run games from, and I also have some regular hdd's that I can hook up and keep a system backup running. Thanks for your suggestions and help.
