Local profile issue after upgrading to 1903

I didn't have this issue on any of the test work computers that I upgraded so I thought hey might as well do my home computer as well.

After the 1903 upgrade was finished and I logged on (username/password still worked so that's something) I noticed that my wallpaper was gone and some of my shortcuts (everything on the taskbar was default, including icons that I had removed such as Windows store and mail) were missing. My USB wifi adapter also did not work but I believe that USB problems are a known issue.

Anyways to make this issue even more fun, when I set up everything again and rebooted... it all reverted back to the default wallpaper and the new shortcuts that I created disappeared again.

Has anyone experienced this yet? I didn't feel like dealing with the hassle last night so I just rolled back to the previous version for now.

    Hi roblinb

    Not listed in the Known.

Known issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903

As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.

I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.

My goodness! Another update abortion. Gotta turn on that metered reg key.

Oops ... my metered script doesn't work anymore.
Why? The last update seems to have locked that reg key.

Solution: Take ownership of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\DefaultMediaCost
I'm metered once again. No 1903 for me.
    I'll wait for 2903.

    Hi all,

Operator error... I didn't install KB 4497934 prior to using the Windows Update Assistant to jump up to 1903.

After I rolled back I installed 4497934 and all of my issues went away, and the upgrade went smoothly.

Like an old friend of mine used to say, "You have to be smarter than the equipment"

    Thanks.
