How to avoid having to log in with passord or p.i.n. ?

When I switch on my computer I want it to take me to the desktop.

I don't want to jump through the identification hoop - no Lock screen or any other encumbrance.

I'm sure I could do it on my previous computer but the how-to has evaporated from my head.

What's the procedure to accomplish this?

    Thank you both.

I'm getting nowhere. The system keeps asking me for the administrator's password. I haven't got a clue where it is.

I'm beginning to wish I had never bought this computer and stuck with 32 bit.

Maybe I should bite the bullet and reinstall the system.

    Hello,

Option 1 in the tutorial below can help show you more on how to have Windows automatically sign in to your account at startup using netplwiz.

You will need to be signed in with an administrator account to do this though.

Thank you Brink Got it at last.

Being half way to 158 years old, my body has been showing signs of age related decrepitude for some time. The trouble is that my mind is following suit - dammit.

    That was shortlived Brink

When I switched the computer on this morning I had to log in. I used my p.i.n.

    I tried the regedit fix.

My registry doesn't have the same entries as yours in the lowest highlighted area in your screenshot.
