Can't boot up without it asking for either a pin or password

    Hi,

I had to format the C drive that windows was installed on yesterday. Previous to that I used to press my power button, then shortly after that my desktop came up and I was ready to go. This does not now happen, and I want to get it back to what it was like before.

So what happens? Before going to the desktop it brings up this other screen demanding I enter a pin. When I delete this requirement in windows, it simply demands I create another one when I start up. It seems I cannot get in unless I either enter my password or a pin. Even then I have to click in order to get to my desktop!

I want it to just go to my desktop without me doing anything at all. Why are Microsoft making this impossible??

One final thing. When I first installed W10 it didn't connect to the internet first thing in the morning, although it does when I restart. I did something to fix this, but can't remember what. Now it's doing it again. I've just switched of windows fast start and see if that helps.

Oh yes, one final thing is that when I boot up my browser automatically comes on with all the tabs I had last session. It's even doing this when I switched off windows fast start. This isn't a problem, but might have something to do with it failing to connect to net from a cold start?

That tutorial was written over 4 years ago! It won't work now (I've tried the first option, but not the 2nd messing with the registry). When I first installed W10 15 months ago I didn't have to enter any password or pin, so microsoft have been messing about with W10 since then.

I did this just few days ago and it worked:

Uncheck the box and enter password where prompted.

And I tried at around an hour ago. To repeat myself, it doesn't work.

I've now made things worse. I asked for help from a microsoft guy. He told me to create another account, which I did, but then I lost the chat window so couldn't follow any further instructions from him.

I have that "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box" unchecked. Now when I boot up, without me doing anything, it says incorrect password. I have to use the password I made up for the other account I created to get in.

OK, what do I do now? I think I'm going to have to give up. I'll check that box again, but how do I delete this other account I've created? Looking at the options it seems I can only create more accounts, I cannot delete any once I've created them! And how do I sign in to my original (admin??) account??

It won't allow 0000 for a pin! :[email protected]

I don't reckon I'm in my administrator account any more. I think I'm in this account I just created. No idea how to either get back to the administrator account, nor how to delete this account.

My Guess is that when you clean installed Windows 10
Not only did you create a User Name - You also created a Microsoft Account, that requires a Password...

When you get the Account Screen, after a clean install, do NOT create a Microsoft Account..
This will then allow you to create a LOCAL Account, without the password requirement..

You should be able to switch from Microsoft Account Login to a Local Account login
