Help with changing old username on PC

Hello I am still very new to win 10 and I have a laptop that my mom gave me, the folders still show her name and not mine. she deleted her old login account and I set up one but its still displaying her name. I am set as the admin with all full rights and the laptop has a genuine software. I also have it logged into my microsoft account. sorry if I am not describing this right.

    for example

    this pc>windows>users>Jane Doe

Note this is technically somewhat advanced.

You would be far better creating a new user profile and deleting your mother's.

Or, you could clean install Win 10 and start afresh (activation should be automatic), with your own login. You may however lose any licensed programs installed for which you don't know the license keys.

(There is also then the question of whether those are transferable, according to the terms of the license).

Hi, would suggest you create a disk image before attempting that, then you have a second chance should anything go wrong.

The routine use of disk imaging - e.g. Macrium Reflect - free- + external storage for image file sets - is frequently recommended here and most members use it. Many advantages.
