[HELP!] Corrupt my Windows 10 profile by using an old theme!

So basically the title says it all, I managed to corrupt my Windows 10 user profile by trying to apply a theme that was made for a prior version to 1803 (etc... 1709...).

The theme resulted in black screen, with flashing cursor.
My keyboard kept turning numlock(1) on/off. I wasn't able to do anything at that point.
Nothing worked, not even the recovery menu, everything turned completely black.

I was able to recover my log on screen, by removing the theme using Windows 7 in dualboot options... thank god for that. I still backed it all up, just incase I need to re-use that corrupt theme to sort the issue out.

After that I got into something called logon loop. Which basically doesn't let you log in onto your profile because your theme is actually corrupt.

I managed to create a new user profile by replacing utilman.exe -> cmd.exe and use "net user" to bypass my original user.

Got onto Windows 10, everything works fine as it should.

My question is, is there a reg key, or some option that can help me remove that theme onset that I put on my original administrator profile. Or I'ma have to backup this and make a double with pre-saved settings?

I would like you to check the system integrity of your Windows OS installation.

• Please type cmd.exe into Start Menu search box.
• Please right click cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator".
• Please type the following command and press the <Enter> key: sfc /scannow (Please note that there is a space between 'sfc" and "/scannow".)
• It should take about 20 minutes to run, if there are no serious errors.
• If the System File Checker reports that some errors were fixed, but some remain; please reboot your computer and run the System File Checker from an Administrator Command Prompt, again.
• If the System File Checker again reports that some errors were fixed, but some remain, please reboot your computer and run it a third time.
• If "Resource Integrity Violations" (errors) are reported that could not be corrected, or were not corrected after a third SFC run, then please navigate to the folder: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and copy the file "cbs.log" to your desktop immediately. I am asking you do that because that file is dynamic, so I want to be able to examine a copy that is unchanged from the time that the System File Checker was run.
• If there are errors that couldn't be corrected, let me know and I will provide you with instructions as to how to upload the file.

I tried doing sfc /scannow many times, but it always gives me the same issue, with "Resource Integrity Violations etc.."
Sfc takes less than 2 minutes for me though. Here's the last CBS log that I have:

My windows 10 works just fine, it's just my old user profile. Removing themes doesn't do anything, it's like the corrupt theme messed up the shell or something, because explorer just won't boot up on my old user profile. The new ones I create work just fine.

Changing themes will modify Windows system files SFC command will repair corrupted Windows system files.
Please execute following command one at time.

Running those commands, didn't fix the issue. As Windows 10 works fine, the only thing that it changed, is remove my DWM Aeroglass. But besides that, it's pretty much the same. Which implies that it's something to do with the .theme itself. I have an idea. I'll send you the exact theme I used, I was messing around with it in notepad++. I think I accidentally applied a windows 8/8.1 .theme file provided in the rar, instead of the 10. theme file. Which might have caused some sort of setting to go out of place. I wonder is it possible to reverse it by messing around with the msstyles. This is the exact theme I tried to use:

Could it be the fact it has that topshell multicolor thingy showing up the details pane. Maybe the .theme has a string line which has to do something with that. If so, it could maybe cause the issue?

Looks like you have to installed theme changers uninstall them and delete the themes you stored in "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes" folder.

Bro, something similar happened to me: i had to replace winlogon.exe with a new one, then restart and thats all.
I used command prompt because my explorer was corrupt as well.

How did you do it?? please explain what you typed in command prompt

how did you use command prompt,i know how to get to command prompt but then what?

Have you tried using System Restore to roll back to a point before you applied that theme?

Going forward, if you don't already do so, doing frequent disk images, and daily backups of volatile data go a long way in getting you out of trouble.
