    How do I fix a Microsoft Account problem message concerning password.


    Occasionally there is a message in the notification center that there is a problem with my Microsoft Account. It says that it may be due to a password change. I have my main PC set up to sign in using a local account and the laptop set up to sign in with the Microsoft account using a PIN.

    I checked under settings and there is no mention of an issue. I signed into the Microsoft account on line with the password I used before I set up the PIN, with no issues. Where else should I check?

    Hi.
    Which system are you getting the notification on? The desktop with a local account? If so, there must be some MS app(s) that has you signed in, and that one needs confirmation. It could be Office, Store, OneDrive, Mail - anything on the computer that uses your MS credentials.

    Sign out of all accounts on all devices and sign back in.
    Re-entering the passwords solved the issue when I had the same issue.

    I would not worry about it. I have even got that message using one PC by using the Mail App and then signing into an MS Account via Webmail or some other App that you need to sign into.

    It says something like that there is a problem, or, you have signed with a different device.
    I just sign in and check activity which has always been mine.

    They seem to be over zealous with security.

    Thank you all for the responses. Yes the main PC with the local account sign in was the one with the notification. I was signed in to the Microsoft account on the main PC for the Microsoft store and the laptop. I signed out on both. Then I shutdown both systems. So I'll see if I get that message again. Thanks.
