No "Switch User" option. Is it by design?

Windows 10 Home 64-bit v1803, Build 17134.523 - Set up as Local Account

I have only had my new Windows 10 laptop since November and I am still getting used to it and finding things out. I have noticed that Windows 10 “Start” options are “Shut down”, “Sign out”, “Sleep” and “Restart” but there is no “Switch User” option.
On my other Windows 8.1 PC if I want to switch to another user whilst keeping myself still signed-in with apps running I have the option to select Start then “Switch User”.

Is this a bug on my Windows 10 Home machine or is it by design for security and unchangeable? I can see the logic of it being “by design for security” since it makes the current user save all their work and sign out before one can select another user. It is more long-winded but definitely more secure. I was just wondering if it is normal W10 behaviour and not my machine being set wrongly.

I tried “Fast User Switching” but this has not helped so I put it back how it was.

    Thanks in advance.

Click on start then click on your account (top of list) it will then give the option to select the other account.

When I left click on Start I am presented with 5 icons on the left hand side. Bottom one is "Power", next up is the gear "Settings", then "Pictures", Then "Documents" and finally there is my Photograph in a circle. Clicking on my photograph presents me with options "Change account settings", "Lock" and "Sign out". There is no option to select other account(s).

Could it be "Fast User Switching" (FUS) needs to be enabled and that this would add the option "Select another account" to the menu list ? I already went through the motions of adding FUS but I did not look at this menu area and so I may have missed seeing it. I suppose I can try the FSU again and see if it adds the option to the menu and, if it doesn't, I can undo the changes.

    Hello Ken,

Are you able to use any of the options in the tutorial below to Switch User?

The other accounts should be listed below 'Sign out', including an indication of which (if any) other account(s) are currently signed in. Click on one to select it.

Thanks for the replies. They all sorted me out in the end. I used batch file "Enable Fast User switching.bat" (Option 2) in Brinks's thread Enable or Disable Fast User Switching in Windows 10 | Tutorials . This caused the other users to appear below "Sign out". So thanks again.
