    Getting permission to delete folders?

I sometimes get a message that says you need permission to perform this action, if i try to delete a file or a folder on my computer, even if i no longer need them.

Solved by using windows own administrator account.

    Hello Cerawy,

It depends on who the owner is of the file/folder, and its set permissions.

If you like, you can add and use the "Take Ownership" context menu to use on a file/folder you don't have access permission for to see if you can delete it afterwards.

I just checked it. It still gives me the same message after taking ownership. It's mostly just leftover folders from uninstalled programs, they are just taking up space on my computer.

As Brink said, you need to set appropriate permissions. Changing ownership should change the permissions to those that you but you should check.

Alternatively, run File explorer as Admin for these housekeeping tasks.

Change Permissions of File, Folder, Drive, or Registry Key for Users and Groups in Windows 10
    or
Make a shortcut to C:\Windows\explorer.exe then right-click on it and select Run as Admin.

You will then be able to delete those leftover folders from uninstalled programs.

Please can you be more specific about what it is that you do not understand.
1 Make a shortcut to C:\Windows\explorer.exe [Create Shortcut to App, File, Folder, Drive, or Website in Windows 10], then
    2 right-click on it, and
    3 select Run as Admin

You will then be able to delete those leftover folders from uninstalled programs.
    - I do not know what folders you want to delete or what has been stopping you from doing so.
    - You might find that the only way to get rid of them is to boot from a USB [e.g. Ubuntu disk] and then delete the leftovers in that environment.
    - If they are Avast folders then seek advice on the Avast user forum [if one exists].
