    Local account to administrator

    Hello all,

Somehow, I've set up my laptop as local account instead of administrator

Unable to make changes as I don't have administrator rights.

I'm the only user on this PC, is it possible to change local account to administrator?

Do you want to make changes to this PC only shows "NO" there is no "Yes" selection.

I don't have rights to do a factory reset (which I'd rather not do)

Just to be straight with terminology.

You can set up your device with a local account or Microsoft account.

Within each of these options you can then either be an Administrator or a Standard user.

If you go Start, Settings, Account and click on Your Info is it listing you as a local account and just below that are you Standard or Administrator.

    Hi Ken

It has my name, under that it has local account

Further down, there is a link "sign in with Microsoft account instead" strange, because at start up, I have to enter my Hotmail account password

    Hello,

In addition, you can use the tutorial below to verify if your account is an administrator or standard user type of account.

Verify using the tutorial above first.

If you setup the account during the installation of Windows 10, it would be an administrator account by default.

    Hi Brink

When I set up windows 10, from memory, I set it up as administrator, however, it kept asking me for my password at start up, so I changed it I think to local account, (now it appears, I didn't know what I was doing)

Switching your account from a Microsoft account to a local account will not affect its type (administrator or standard user).

When you check using the tutorial, does it show as an administrator account?

What does it show using Option 1 and/or 2 instead for your account?
