Takes three tries to login before my desktop shows, every time

So for some reason, ever since the October update finally re-released (though I've HAD it since early October, maybe even longer) and patches have addressed most of the issues, I've been having issues logging in. My PIN is correct, and it doesn't give me an error message... that's not it. Instead of loading my desktop, I get a black screen. If I move my mouse, the cursor shows up. But that's it. I've waited, thinking it was still loading for whatever reason... Nope. I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to choose the option to log out, then attempt to log back in, two more times, before the desktop finally loads, immediately on the third try, every time, without fail. Anyone else have this issue? Should I just do a clean install of Windows since it's essentially running a Frankenstein "Oct/Nov/Oct-retry" update?

Two things spring to mind my friend one is the hard drive failing? if so I would renew it and two have you checked the boot order in the BIOS for the hard drive being the first boot choice??

To test the drive I would suggest you try this

I don't think that's the case. I did run into another issue though, where the PC no longer wants to stay on.
