I have it set with my hotmail account from many years ago. It was one of most secure e-mail accounts at that time. Synchronizing all devices thru it and ease of access to MS services are my most important reasons. It's also a third motherboard on this computer alone on which same windows installation activated automatically the moment it connected to MS by internet. No fuss at all.
I'm assuming it doesn't matter which email provider you use for syncing, they should all act the same.
I am "glad" it turned out this way. MS is sure protecting accounts well, unlike Google, where you can recover the account by providing some facts, which can be gained by simply looking at facebook or google+. People usually reject to provide their phone number, which is essential in recovery. Also 2FA is questionable, since it can made recovery impossible, but on the other hand, it can actually help hackers to gain access.
