The reason that the non- activated Windows is an issue is because the forum rules prevent us from helping people with less than legitimate installs of Windows. Using Windows 10 without it being activated violates the Microsoft End Users License Agreement and is one sign that the user does not have a legitimate installation of Windows. That's why I brought it up, because of the EULA and forum rules.

Thank you for that. FWIW, I agree.

Just an afterthought. I think it's possible but unlikely someone would communicate with MS directly and, as described, so intensely, while being aware of possibly using a bootleg OS.

Thank you for your positive words

Microsoft is adamant not to give me back my account. I have recieved a final email from them stating that i should set up another account. They say they can transfer contacts etc , which i know will be a lie because if it has taken over 4 days of back and forth bullshit with them , they are not likely going to transfer all my details onto new account. I am devastated. I have lost all communications with my Twitter friends who i have met and bonded with. It was such a joy and now Microsoft & Twitter has cowardly taken that away

Well, I was going to suggest you make another account and let them transfer stuff. It would probably work as you'd be able to enter right credentials this time and they will be able to see it's legit. Make sure you also have a backup account for verification, I use Gmail for that. Once in a while I get message on it to verify it (hotmail account) if they thing something fishy may be happening. As I use same account on many devices and Linux, if I make a mistake signing in, I get message on Gmail to enter some code number for verification. As said before, MS is really adamant in protecting accounts, any little error or discretion and they react.

Are you willing to try the MS suggestion of setting up a new account, and let them transfer what they can? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. You're frustrated and really, really P'd off at them, and others..... but what do you have to lose? You can't be any worse off than you presently are. Give it a try, and if it fails, then your assumptions concerning MS and all the attempts may well be justified. Try first. Nothing to lose.

Damn! I wanted to find out what happened with this. It was almost soap operatic in nature.

I do not have a Microsoft account. Can someone explain what benefit there might be in having such an account?
