Email used to create Microsoft account permanently associated with it?

A few months ago, I decided to use another email address with my Microsoft account. I linked it, made it the primary alias, and I deleted the original email address, the one I used to create the account, I think back in the live.com days (2013, anyway). When I go to "Your Info" on the account.microsoft.com/profile web site, I see only the new email address in the "Profile" tab. I click on "Manage how you sign in to Microsoft," and it's the only Account Alias listed. Great, right?

However, back on the "Your Info" page, there is the enigmatic "Contact info" link to the right of "Profile." I click on it, and my original email address is the only email under "These email addresses are associated with your Microsoft account, including the best place to reach you, and how you sign in." In particular, the primary alias is nowhere to be found. There's no way to change it, as "Manage this email address" takes me back to "Manage how you sign in to Microsoft," where the new email address is the only Account Alias listed, as I mentioned above. When I click on "Change sign-in preferences," only my new email address is listed, it's grayed out, and the only button on the page is Cancel.

So this "Contact info" part of Microsoft is fixated on my original email address, and I can't change it. I don't know what it's used for, and I don't monitor it anymore, so it's a problem.

    Any ideas?

    Did you check this tutorials?

Changing to local account first, and then to another online also works. (from MS forums):

You have an option to replace your current Microsoft account to a different Microsoft account. But if you do that all the user settings of your Old Microsoft account will now longer be available of the new Microsoft account. The files will remain intact.
To replace your old Microsoft account to new Microsoft account (in this case your Son’s), you will have to first switch to Local account and then again switch back to the Microsoft account. Follow the steps to do so:
    - Click on search in taskbar and type account.
    - Click on Accounts.
    - Now, under your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
    - Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
    - Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
    Now, login to Local account.
Once you login to the Local account, you will have to again switch back to the Microsoft account. (New Microsoft account). To do so, follow the steps:
    - Click on search in taskbar and type account.
    - Click on Accounts.
    - Now, under your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
    - Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
    - Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.

There's nothing in the tutorial I haven't already done, and it doesn't address the discrepancy I described. As for the message, yes, I've already switched from local to Microsoft and back again to local. I'm sticking with local. I don't see how this is relevant anyway.

As I described, the problem is with the email address used to create the account lingering in the "Contact info" tab on the web page I cited. As I described, I made a different email address the primary and deleted the original from my account. There's no way to change the "Contact info" email to the current primary; it's stuck on the deleted original email, which I no longer monitor regularly.

    Go to https:\\account.microsoft.com

Log in to your Microsoft Account. Underneath where your name displays on the left side, click on more actions. In the dropdown menu click on edit profile. Under Your Info, click on Contact Info. You should be able to change it there.

Dude, that just takes me to the pages I cited in the OP, and I explained that it doesn't allow me to change the "Contact Info" address.

Think it's time to contact MS. They can fix that on their servers. Contact is at the bottom (right) of your account page

On account.microsoft.com, maybe try the security tab, then update your security info...

Chatted with Microsoft three times today, and I was reminded why I let 42 out of 44 free MSDN incidents expire unused in the 11 years I was a developer MVP.

During the first chat, the person was asking "Are you still there?" every 30 seconds, as if he were eager to disconnect me, which he was and finally did, despite my telling him multiple times, "I'm not going anywhere." Up until that point, it was going like an Eliza session. For real. I'm not exaggerating.

For the second chat, I pasted the transcript of the first chat, and the new person came back with an understanding of the problem. I was optimistic. It ended after I uploaded requested screenshots and was promised that a higher level of support would contact me in 24 hours. That sounded pretty good, but within the next 12 minutes, I received 4 identical emails from Microsoft telling me my case had been closed, and yes, it was the same case number chatter #2 had just given me.

The guy in the third chat said the second person was wrong to escalate the problem and just wanted to connect remotely, which I refused multiple times, but he finally gave me this link (GUID suffix deleted):
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/supportrequestform/
I entered my problem there and received a "Support Request Number." We'll see how that goes.

Since Nov 6, when I used the support request form mentioned in my prior post, there have been six emails from Microsoft from five different agents. They've requested escalating amounts of visual demonstration of what I clearly described in my support request, some completely redundant WRT what I provided previous agents, e.g. through the Problem Steps Recorder, and it concluded with the following:

"I would like to let you know that Microsoft have a known issue about old aliases are not being deleted as they should be and this still show via
    https://account.microsoft.com/profile/contact-info.
We would to like to extend our apologies for any inconvenience this issue has brought you. The issue is still being investigated by our developers and we don’t have the exact time frame when this issue will be resolved."

I'll refrain from commenting further on this, except to say they've been regularly sending "Your support request is now complete" emails to the "Contact info" addy I want to get off my account concerning the chat I had prior to the Nov 6 support request form usage, the latest being sent on Nov 29.
