Box properly unchecked yet must enter password each time...

[W10; Lenovo Laptop brand new; Chrome browser; Outlook.com; Gmail.]

Puzzle: I fixed my laptop so as to open it without having to enter my password and it worked for a few days but now again needs to be typed the password even on its awakening!

Of course I went back to the place to paste "control userpasswords2" and the rest of it and still it had the little box unchecked yet I had to enter password each time. I tried with "netplwiz" too but no difference.

Is there a solution to this puzzle? Thanks so much for any help!

You need to Turn Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10. That will get rid of the login when you return from sleep.

Which issue do you mean? To the sign-in? Yes, since I got it to omit demanding my sign in once, but now it started asking again...

Redo the process. Save any setting if required.

Follow Ztruker's advice to turn off require sign-in wakeup in windows 10
Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
Use Option one. Save any setting if required.

Restart the computer and ensure both items are working as expected.

Thank you so much MeAnd! The last 2 or 3 times I was able to ignore the popup window demanding a password and it worked! However, it didn't work very well with related things; thus I seek to do it right. So I'm following your and Ztruker's advice except I don't remember my old password and without it, it doesn't let me change it now! Any way I can change it so it accepts it before I try to do away with it by your advice? Thanks again!

Is the account on which you do not remember the old password the only user account on your computer?

Do you have Windows 10 install DVD or flash drive? If yes, boot it. At the first screen, press Shift+F10 to open a Command Prompt window.
Locate your Windows 10 OS drive. Easiest way I've found to do this is use the dir command until you find the partition that has the Users directory on it.

dir c:\ (this will probably be the one you want)
    dir d:\
    dir e:\

    etc.

    The enter ren c:\windows\system32\magnify.exe magnify.exe.sav
    copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe ren c:\windows\system32\magnify.exe

This replaces magnify.exe with cmd.exe, saving the original magnify.exe to put back when your done.

Now reboot and on the login screen, click on the icon next to the power icon (Assistive Technologies?).
Select Magnify. Because you replaced magnify.exe with cmd.exe, that will open a Command Prompt window.
In that window enter net user administrator /active:yes to enable the hidden Administrator account.
Reboot and select Administrator instead of your normal account to login with. Once it's setup, open Control Panel, User Accounts. Select Change another account, select your account then Change password. Hopefully you will be able to change it or just remove it if it's not a Microsoft account.

Another (easier) way would be to create a bootable flash drive of Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk from KYHI. Boot it then use the password reset tool to remove the password from your account.
