    can i temporary use a local account


    im about to reinstall windows and when i use my microsoft acc it always names my user folder the wrong thing.i was wondering can i use a local acc during setup so it names it correctly then add my Microsoft account later that has the activation stuff with it?

    Yes, setting up the first account as a local account is the only way to have a completely free choice of the account name, and hence the folder name.

    You can then switch it to a Microsoft account later.

    And you will discover that Windows 10 will activate on the local account. Activation does not come from the Microsoft Account, it comes from the digital license stored on Microsoft activation servers based on the hardware ID of the computer itself - not the Microsoft Account.

    ok im also planing on upgrading a family members pc from a hard drive to an ssd will windows still activate and thank you for the help s far

    Yes, the hard drive does NOT form part of the hardware ID of the PC which is used to activate it. You are free to change the HDD for an SSD and the activation servers will still recognise the PC as having the same hardware ID.

    You'd need to change something like the motherboard before activation would be a problem, but even that may be possible if the digital licence is linked to your MS Account before replacing the m/board. The Activation Troubleshooter can be then used to restore activation.
