Local Account Administrator appears as Standard

    Hi there,

Maybe this is totally normal, but I'm not quite sure why it works this way.
In the Win10 panel, the account shows as administrator, in the old control panel it looks different:

Basically, my account which is the administrator appears as a standard account.
    Perhaps this is the explanation?
In Windows 10, as in every release since Windows Vista, the built-in Administrator account is disabled. You can enable that account with a couple quick commands, but think twice before you do it.

This account was necessary in the Windows XP era and earlier, but it's not needed in the current Windows design and is disabled by default to reduce the attack surface on a Windows PC. During Setup, the first account you create is a local administrator and can be used for recovery purposes.

You are misinterpreting that Control Panel dialog, totally misunderstanding it. In Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts, you have selected Change your account type:

Local Account Administrator appears as Standard-image.png

Because the user account you have selected already is an administrator account, dialog shows you the only other option Standard pre-selected. If you now click the Change Account Type button, the account will be switched to Standard account:

Local Account Administrator appears as Standard-image.png

However, if you select Administrator in that dialog, you will notice that button Change Account Type is greyed out. This is because the fact that the account already is an administrator account, therefore account type change would be unnecessary:

Local Account Administrator appears as Standard-image.png

Short: your user account is very clearly a local admin account. No worries.

Your account type is shown as administrator on both sides:

Got it, thank you @Kari for the explanation!
I think the design choice is not clear, though. Commonly, software UIs show the current tool/option/status as the active option, whereas in the windows control panel it selects the standard account for you (which is not the active account type in my case), not very intuitive.
From a design stand point it has to be the user to select the options not the system. Considered normally the way users choose options is by clicking on ui elements, seeing the standard account makes me think I can select the administrator and the standard is my current type of user.
@navtLCDR: that actually explains my confusion. They both show administrator, yes, but in the old control panel it also says standard, but now I know how it works.

As explained by@Kari - it does not show standard - just displays the only option available if you change the account.

I get that and as Kari said it shows standard as pre-selected which I consider a bad design choice for the reasons I explained above.
