    Microsoft Account login problems

I recently had to re-install Windows, since for some reason a boot component got corrupted, because my battery died (my pc was in sleep mode), i tried to boot it up, not knowing the battery was dead, and nothing i did fixed it.
I went through the setup, no problem. I login to my account (Using my Microsoft account), notice that the username is not the same as it was before, I create a new account with the right username, deleted the other account, logged in using my microsoft account and migrate my old user files from the Windows.Old folder (including AppData), now it won't sync my settings, I can't add my GMail account, I can't receive emails from my Outlook account (Microsoft acount), so i try to remove it and add it back. No luck I get Error 0x8007002 and 0x8007520 after doing some troubleshooting (Windows Store troubleshooter)

Importing AppData was and always will be a bad idea.

Quite a lot in AppData is exclusively earmarked as to belong to a certain user, based on so called Security Identifier or SID. In screenshot an example of SID, my current one on this laptop I am using at the moment.

Even if the computer name will be changed to same name it had before reinstall, and if the username remains the same, the SID is unique for each installation. User JohnDoe in old Windows installation on a specific computer is for the system not the same than user JohnDoe in new installation on same computer.

As always, there are some exceptions for the rule. For instance, browser favorites / bookmarks let's say for Opera can be copied from one computer / user's AppData to another computer and user. However, generally speaking you should not copy AppData from one user to another, not even on same computer from old user account to a new one.

Other geeks might be able to offer you another solution, but in my opinion the best you could do is to backup your personal files (Docs, Pics, Videos, Music and such) to an external USB disk, then do one more clean install.

Is there a way to know which files and folders not to copy over?

You can safely copy everything from your personal data folders like Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, Downloads, Saved Games, Desktop.

My recommendation is to not copy anything from AppData and its subfolders.
