Why the <bleep> is MS forcing me to use a PIN?

I recently installed Windows 10 Pro on a new (to me) laptop. It forced me to choose a PIN during installation, and absolutely would not let me cancel PIN creation, though I tried many times. So I thought, OK, I'll just set up the stupid PIN and delete it after installation. I continued with the installation, and was prompted for the PIN at first boot.

I then logged in with the PIN, deleted the PIN, logged out, and got the familiar *password* screen, just as I wanted. But after logging in, once again I was forced to create a PIN, with no recourse.

How do I stop this insanity?

You should have been able to click/tap on "Do this later" or "Cancel" depending on what you see to not have to set up a PIN.

After logging in with my MS account, I was taken straight to step F. However, there was no "Do this later" button. Hitting Next (the only option) brought me to the PIN entry screen. Hitting Cancel there brought me to a screen that asked if I really, really wanted to pass on the opportunity to use a wondrous PIN. However, the only option was Next, which brought me right back to the PIN entry screen.

And now that I have a PIN, even if I go into settings and delete the stupid thing, I'm forced to re-create it *immediately* after logging in with the password. In other words, I don't see the desktop, just a blue screen demanding that I create a PIN.

It does help. I can now login with my MS password. I missed the ‘sign in options’ link at the bottom of the screen. I had to click that manually to expose the password option, and de-select the friggin’ Windows Hello option.

Question is, why is Microsoft ramming this down customers’ throats? Why are only some users affected?

Edit: Just curious, do you have Office 365?

Who knows why it affects only some and not others. I have 5 computers, only one had this issue.
No, I do not use MS Office 365.
I am still using the "old clunker" 2007 version.

Ztrucker said the issue cleared away, maybe after an update or 2.
So did mine.
Maybe yours will do that too.

In this case, I want to use my Microsoft account. But, yes, there's a good chance that would eliminate the difficulty. However, I need access to OneDrive and Office365, and @davidhk's fix works fine.
