    Okay please complete the backups.

This boot disk will boot you into a full functioning Windows and you can copy off everything.

Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

Not sure how close you live to a computer / office store but you might find a portable hardrive will be cheaper than SD cards.

Western Digital (WD) makes them in crazy sizes like 2TB or 3TB and they are competitively prices. I prefer raw hard drives and a small dock. Far more reliable but a dock and drive will likely be between $80 - $100.

Once you are backed up I would like you to try what I posted earlier about going into safe mode and running the AVG remover.

    Talk in the morning.

How big of a USB would I need for the

It looks like it's 1G will it cause me to loose anything if I use it?

It downloads at just around 1.2GB. You can create ISO on blank DVD if you have.

If you put on USB thumb drive you must make it bootable. Think I would use 2G USB thumb drive. I would use blank one or move data to other laptop temporarily.

You said you had a second machine. You could backup all your info on it, I would hope it has the space. Are the machine network either through shares or a Homegroup?

. There is a Homegroup thing on here, I tried a while ago to set that up but I gave up. they both run off the same wifi signal. As for the recovery I can do that, but need someone to explain the easiest way.
What can I do to make certain that this, or the other Windows 10 laptop I have don't go to Safe Mode like this again? Someone else uses that laptop and she hits yes to almost anything that asks..so I'm afraid it will happen, she's old. . I know there was a warning, I saw it, but it also said it was not advisable to do it out of Safe Mode.. you'd think they'd say why. Folks that have limited user experience see a message like that and automatically follow it...they, (I), think Windows is saying to do it and so many idiots actually trust MS. ...Me included . .....But, not anymore.
    Going to start those downloads..
hey I'm lost on that page. There's many downloads and I was reading but that didn't help and I will need some instruction on which file and how to make it bootable.
I barely understood anything of what they were saying on the download page., Is the downloading of just one file all I need or do I need more than that., and do I need to hang onto the bootable usb that I used to start win 10 when I first was locked out. Can I delete it then use that 16GB USB? or should I hang on to it.

Hi sorry I was out Saturday. You can't prevent safemode, it is a Windows error state.

What you need is a small book to right passwords, security questions and notes in.

Next please stop running cleaners. With Windows updating itself every six month almost no one needs one.

After reading this I would like to suggest we do one thing at a time. Rather than the recovery disk did you disable the elevated Admin?

If not can you log in as the elevated admin and is it usable?

I have to see customer this morning but I will be back.

Got almost everything out that I care about, took longer that I thought it would
I went to read about the Windows 10 Recovery Tool - Bootable Rescue Disk I'm not sure which file to download, and does it say how to make it bootable, I sort of felt stressed after trying to understand just what was going on with this recovery tools thing, a lot going on with it half of it I can't even pronounce. Probably going to be needing help with how to do that.

Good to hear you got out what you needed.

As such I would like to recommend we ignore the recovery tool. Should you need it in the future you click on the second download.

    Attachment 186781

Once you have the file in windows 10 you mount it and burn to DVD. You can make USB key.

Anyway as you have your data it is not needed.

I believe several post back you used the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB Thumb drive. Is that correct?

no, I think you misunderstand,, I did not do a back up at all, I don't know how to do it. I thought I was getting my stuff off so I could do this. I have many things that do not work, search boxes in many sites, my start button does nothing and there is no apps showing at all or any start menu. I though this was going to fix those things. , no?
