Ok new results i was reading and started thinking that if the usb was not running i should try BOTH usb ports and....now it is seeming to work i am at the place where it asks if i want to repair...jeez who knew....it was the usb port its self. I will let you know how I faired
I can get to the command prompt but when I put in the commands , very carefully, it said it did not recognize the command
I then went on to try the next thing which is the elevated administrative fix. I enterer regedit and up csme registry editor. Following the instructions I went to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then I went to 'file' then hit on 'Load Hive' when I click on load hive a box opens with a file that says recovery. ..but there's nothing in it. So, this is where I am. Am I doing something wrong?
When i type dir in the command prompt it says
Volume in drive c is System Reserved
Volume Serial Number is...it gives a number
Somehow i think because it was his business copy of win 10 ??

Ok giving it another go, i did see the stuff you mention in red, but by then I was so tired and disgusted i went to bed, but I think after playing with it there's a chance i can do it.. I'll keep you posted, and geez thanks so much for this on going help, you guys/gals are unbelievable.
When i get to where the files you list above, in red, i type in the command you gave and it says that it's an unknown command. I put it the exacy way you said, and that's what i get. It says to type bcdedit/? And get command line assistance. In the assistance it says that the command bcdedit is Boot Configuration Data Store Edititor. Then it says this.......
The bcdedit. exe command-line tool modifies the boot configuration data store. The boot configuration data stored contains boot configuration parameters and controls how the operating system is booted. These parameters were previously in the Boot.ini file (in BIOS-based systems) or in the nonvolatile RAM entries (in Extensible Firmware Interface-based systems ) . You can use Bcdedit. exe to add, delete, edit, and append entries in the boot configuration data store.
It goes on to say if i want a list of bcdedit.exe detailed commands and options to type

So should i try the regedit way? Or ?
I am in. It's in safe mode administrator so now what do I do to make it come out of safe mode and not have this happen again. WOWZA I honestly was ready to go postal. 😨 so im gonna leave it right where it is...my desktop, in safemode. OMG I can not believe it thanks so so so so much. I wait for the finishing things. Pheew
been trying to get back to my regular desktop but when I restart it comes up back at the password, safe-mode place, but I can choose either my other, non admin account....or the admin account. The admin account opens to my desktop in safe-mode. I went to the command prompt and put msconfig in and put a check in the box for Normal Startup. When I restart it just repeats the same 2 log in choices with the safe mode password screen in the background. I know I'm missing, a step takes it out of admin safe mode, or I'm not sure, I went to look at the users, (by using the switch users option) and both admin and regular user accounts are there, should I choose my regular account there then log out of admin and restart? or just restart?
I think I'm close to being back to regular.
