Well as sure as can be.

There can be glitches, no doubt, but Windows is loaded by thousands of people and Brink writes one solid set of instructions.

Not far back TustMe reported that he had just upgraded and if product key doesn't work you haven't had a activated copy of windows since your neighbour worked on it.

Anyway as I understand it you have nothing to lose. You can't use the laptop as it is. Right?

Got busy with a few things, but it's running now. It's at 11% so it's going to take a while, but I hung up at the partition page, I finally, after freaking out, I picked the one that was huge. I'll post when it's done.
It restarted and when that happened I briefly saw now 3 win10on laptop...the two I started withh and a new one. It's finishing up...but I believe the partition thing messedup, I did it wrong. if it doesn't start all the way soon, I let it run and go to bed...we see what it looks like in the morning....it just ssys ...Getting Ready now

    Morning.

    So how did it go?

Step 13 had you erase all partitions, should have only been one large one.

Yep, think it was so late that I lost track of what I had done. But, it restarted and.......up popped win10 in full, brand new ready to roll as if I had just pulled it out of the Toshiba box. OK Holy Crap...I am so in awe of all you guys/gals that helped me with this. Honestly Thank You hardly seems enough. I would've had no laptop and just would've been, ahh screwed. I use Firefox so I installed that, synced it..wow, this win 10 is nothing compared to what neighbor put in. Wonder why he didn't do what we did with the win 7, the sticker with numbers in stuck on the bottom of it. Go figure...probably just went the easiest way.

    Couple quick questions
What virus protection should I use?
Is it a good idea to leave that Cloud thing on, or shut it off?

Windows Defender is already built into Windows 10 and will do fine for most users. I would get Adwcleaner from Malwarebytes and also get their free Malwarebytes program as well. Adwcleaner is a stand alone program that does not install. It catches things that an AntiVirus does not look for, adware, PUP, etc. Malwarebytes free will let you install it and you can scan whenever you want to check if anything got past Defender. Just update Malwarebytes before you run it each time to make sure it has the latest definitions.

I will defer to someone else on the OneDrive cloud feature. I do not use it.

Hope that helps a little. :)

Lets keep it simply and hold on the cloud.

The products Access Denied mentioned are very good and can be used as additional scans, a second set of eyes if you will.

I'm very happy to hear you are up. Now lets make sure everything is operational.

Could you right click on Start, then left click on Device manager. Expand each grouping and see if you have any yellow exclamation marks. Report back and we will address those.
