    Unable to log in.

Wasn't sure where to post this.

A neighbour rang me earlier today to say that they are unable to log into their account. The computer refuses to log in (I dont remember any error messages). However another account on the same machine works fine.

Is there anything I can do to rectify this?

    Hey Nick, :)

It depends on if the neighbor's account they are locked out of is a Microsoft account or local account. They can reset the password of a Microsoft account online at Microsoft.

If the other account they can log in to is an administrator account, then they could change the password of the locked out account if it's a local account.

I am at the machine now and what happens is a black screen appears before the login screen. I have removed avast but that hasnt helped. The other account works fine.

If you haven't already, you might turn off Fast Startup to see if it may be related.

If one account works but the other doesnt, does this mean you are able to get to the log on screen to select which account you want to use?

Yes we can select the account that works and log in. For now I have asked them to use that account and have managed to gain access to the user files of the other account.
