My user acc is in need of a miracle , I need it saved please , start

    Hey there,

my start menu is unresponsive, I think this is due to a windows update.

However on a new acc the start menu works. Of course I can't do this... I've spent months customizing the profile I use every day. To simply give up and move on is not an opinion. This has to be fixed.

I've tried doing system restore and this fixes it but then the problem comes back every time windows update is installed. I can't stop the update from happening!

    Hello Matt, :)

If you haven't already, you might see if resetting your Start layout back to default may help.

It reset yes but when windows was finished loading it didn't respond any more. Perhaps this is my fault as I hard reset my pc because during reboot it was not responding, it was stuck on the restart modus , giving a loading circle and nothing else happened for a while and perhaps this is why it doesn't work?

In any case I'm re-doing it now and waiting for it to reboot on its own. Might take hours that I don't have. I got alot of work to do and need this solved urgently. Pretty sure windows update triggered this event.

If all else fails, usually a repair install can fix this without losing anything. I would still recommend to backup anything that you don't want to lose to be safe though.
