Do you have a "backup Image" of your machine prior to your mistake? If not this is a perfect example of why backups are so important and can save the day. I did try to replicate your dilemma on my virtual windows 10 but was unable. You certainly have a unique situation. Have you tried a restore point to a date previous to your mistake?
Even more ODD is I did have 5 restore points but when using system restore it failed on each one and on the last one it erased the other restore points and now says no restore points available.
I do agree with backups and I do backup my files / folders / etc...but I don't do a bare metal backup because well I've not needed to do a full image since windows 95 honestly. Always been able to figure everything out or save things manually with different tool disks. This online sync crap though....it's for the birds....
My first real need to make a system image was in 2015, as a precaution before the free upgrade from W7 to W10. I found it so useful that I now routinely keep a system image on a second partition on all my machines - effectively my personal 'factory reset' image.
System Restore has been known to be unreliable in the past. Anyway, it takes so long to prepare to restore that you could easily restore a system image in about the same time it takes System Restore to finally tell you it failed..
Okay. With this being a MSA couldn't you contact MSA's tech support to reset these passwords and permissions?
Looking around I found what to do to recover your msa before you actually try to contact msa tech support and if all else fails there's email and chat at the bottom.I looked for a phone support number and iirc its on one of the account help pages, my apologies that I can't be more precise.Found it, see below.

You are so right! I'm no fan of system restore either & would never rely on to get out of a jam. I agree, you can restore to an image and be back on the road fairly quick. I like your "personal factory reset" routine, just not on an internal partition. Hopefully you have it on two other locations, external drive, cloud storage or DVD. When that internal drive fails, you are still covered. My customers tend to believe their data is safe on their machine. I ask them why they have auto, homeowners and life insurance...how important is your data...that's when they get it.
As for mas account recovery, if you register a secondary email and your mobile phone you will be able to get back control of the account.
I have control of the account. The issue is un-syncing it with a local account. Adding a secondary email and mobile doesn't do anything to restore the local account. I can't change the MSA because it will lose all the info from my Child's xbox history etc...
So not to confuse any issues here the MSA is fine and accessible that's not the issue. The issue is how to untie it from my local admin account on my computer without destroying the child account.
This sucks but it's a very complex issue and hard to explain in text. Pics show more about what is going on.
Something else new that is on the local account now shows in the lower right systray area.
More info. Online I show no apps linked to the pc but I did show the pc device. When I remove it I get this screen but there is no "Disconnect my microsoft account" located anywhere.
I've also tried to remove the child account completely from family and re-add them back as an adult however the account always shows it's using ms family features. Which it's not when I completely removed it.
