Windows 10 log in forgot password
When I log into Windows 10, I have always used a four digit pin. Today the system said my password has expired, and I would need to reset it and then be able to use my pin again. My system is set up as a user account, and not set up with my Microsoft account information. Since I forgot the password, how can I log into my system?
I did some searching on this, and found some instructions utilizing the installation CD to open a command prompt. When I went to start copying files, I got a message about the file not able to be copied and the C drive is system reserved.
Is there anyway I can log in to my system?
Alternatively, I could get a new hard drive which I could use it anyway for extra storage and set up as new drive, and transfer my data from old drive to new drive. My challenge with this is that I have the windows eight installation desk, and did the free online upgrade to windows 10. How can I re-install windows 10 since I did it online back when it was offered for free? Also, how do I transfer all my user files, loh in files, programs, desktop icons etc to new drive? I guess I can just copy the desktop icons, and then set their properties to point to the program files on the D drive, which is the drive that would have all the programs and data files, etc.
Thank you!
