Starting with Windows 10 build 17040, there is a hidden new floating Search bar that can be enabled for a more immersive Cortana that Microsoft is testing. This new look is similar to Apple’s macOS Spotlight Search feature.

When you enable the floating Search bar, you can either press Win+S or click/tap on the Cortana icon (taskbar) to open the new floating Search bar UI.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable the Cortana floating Search bar for your account in Windows 10.
Note   Note
Floating Search bar requirements:
  1. Cortana enabled.
  2. Hide or show Cortana icon on the taskbar. The floating Search bar will not work if you set to show search box on taskbar.
