Well, I followed Kari's tutorial. I mounted the iso, copied the install.wim to a folder on my hard drive, modified it by adding the latest cumulative update with Powershell script. The problem arises when trying to delete the install.wim file from the mounted iso and replace it with the modified install.wim. It will not allow deleting and it doesn't have any security tab in properties. All of my drives are formatted with NTFS, seems silly to have to change the format to fat32.
Kari suggested converting the folder with all of the copied files and modified install.wim back to an iso. I have PowerIso and Iso Buster, I'm sure there are other ways too, and Kari even made a script to do it. Just wish I knew why I can't delete the install.wim from the mounted iso??

You can't, I can't, no one can. See my post above.

After you extract to a folder, and replace install.wim do the following.

Download, and unzip this file. It is from Microsoft. Place it in you System32 folder for ease of use. I always have it in every install I do.

    oscdimg.zip

Then in a command prompt run as admin do this

Create iso which will boot in BIOS & UEFI

    Code:
    oscdimg -h -m -o -u2 -udfver102 -bootdata:2#p0,e,b<Path to \boot\etfsboot.com>#pEF,e,b<Path to \efi\microsoft\boot\efisys.bin> -l<Description-can be anything or nothing> <Path to Extracted ISO> <Path to New ISO>

    Exactly.

@Barefoot, a mounted ISO is a virtual DVD drive, behaving in every aspect exactly as a real DVD-R disk on physical DVD drive. It can be read but not written, nothing can be deleted, edited or changed in it.

Solution is simple: copy everything from mounted ISO to a folder on hard disk, let's say D:\ISO_Files. Replace the original install.wim file on D:\ISO_Files\Sources folder with your updated install.wim. Create a bootable USB flash drive using D:\ISO_Files folder as source, as shown in this tutorial: PowerShell Scripting - Create USB Install Media for Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

Alternatively, if you only need new ISO, or if the updated WIM file is too big to be copied to USB (over 4 GB), create an ISO as told in Part Five in this tutorial: Create Windows 10 ISO image from Existing Installation | Windows 10 Tutorials

I am confused. This is an exact duplicate of the post you posted almost an hour and a half ago, which was replied by @flybynite 15 minutes later, and me 20 minutes after him. Then, 40 minutes after being given both explanation and solution, you post the same again?

My reply to you (post #22) not only explains why you can't do that, it also gives you a solution. Please read that post.

Gentlemen, it all makes sense now and please accept my apology. For some reason, maybe not refreshing the page while working on things for few hours. I must have double posted because I clicked reply and when coming back later, the text was still in the reply box and not posted, so I clicked reply again. I didn't know it posted twice until you mentioned it. Also, for some reason I didn't see your posts #21 & 22 here.
I can trim it all out if it will help.
Your posts and instructions have been read & understood. Thank you.
