One issue springs to mind right off the bat:

What is the order of your partitions? If your recovery partition comes after your Windows partition as per latest guidance from Microsoft, then you may have free space after the recovery partition and not adjacent to the Windows partition. This means that you won't be able to simply expand the Windows partition into that space. You would need some third party app to move the recovery partition.
But I`m not trying to expand/extend/change the C partition with Windows. I want NEW partition, under letter D for the remaining of unallocated space.

With 250GB SSD I have lets say 120GB unallocated, I want it to be new D partition 120GB size.
With 1TB SSD I`ll have 835GB unallocated, I want THAT to be new D of 835GB size.
The C with its ~110GB size partition remains unchanged.

Okay, I see what you are saying now. Worth a shot. Should be easy enough to test and see if that works.

The issue that you reference is something entirely different. Thankfully, this issue has been resolved. If you are working with Win 10 20H2 you should not encounter this issue.

Let me know if you have any questions.
I'm using 2019 LTSC. I found that I needed to address the webcache issue.
What then was the issue? I use Kari's outline for image creation and use copyprofile=T. I also rename built-in administrator for ambiguity purposes. What issues should I expect from the relevant thread? I"m not noticing any issues once I cleared the administrator's webcache.

    Taly,

There was an issue that would cause all newly created user accounts to become unusable if the account name called "Administrator" was ever re-enabled.

Normally, after running sysprep, the Administrator account gets disabled. You should have another administrative level account at that point, However, if for some reason you subsequently re-enable "Administrator", then all accounts created after that would be defective. As an example, navigating through Settings in Windows with those accounts would be nearly impossible as it could take up to several minutes for screens to open.

That issue had nothing to do with browsing.

However, as noted, this is no longer an issue.

Thanks for your help, it would have taken much more time without it. Just to update: it took me another day or two and I managed to find a method the supplier required, deploy Acronis .tib disk backup using PXE:

    1. Followed Kari`s tutorial excluding the DISM capturing part at the very end. Also excluded disk partitioning from answers file at the beginning, obviously.
    2. Created a one line PowerShell script that formats remaining unallocated free space as NTFS, gives letter, sets label.
    3. Added synchronous command in FirstLogonCommands during pass 7 to answers file to run that PowerShell script right before getting the desktop first time.
    4. Sysprepped, shutdown, booted from 3rd party WinPE with Acronis and created simple full disk backup with all the partitions.

When supplier PXE boots new hardware, .tib image is deployed. After reboot, the system starts from sysprepped Windows C partition.
Thats pretty much it. In case anyone else needs it. And just to make sure: deploying disk backup is not the proper method (although it works without issues for me). The correct way is described in detail by Kari in first post of this thread.

So, i did this tutorial a while ago. I have the same windows build since I did this tutorial. There is any way to just upgrade windows build? Or I have to do this tutorial once in a while to get Windows on the lastest builds?

    Lokateu,

Let's make sure that we are talking about the same thing here....

VERSION NUMBER: The version number indicates the major release which currently happens twice a year. For example, Windows 10 version 2004 and 20H2 are two version numbers.

BUILD NUMBER: The build number changes with each cumulative update. For example, version 20H2 of Windows will have different build numbers depending upon which set of updates are applied.

For the version number, I am not aware of any way to update the version number in an image other than to create a whole new image.

For the build number, yes, you can update the build by injecting the latest updates into into your image.

Lokateu, if it is really the build number that you want to update (in other words, if you want to add all the latest Windows updates into your image) let me know and I will provide you everything that you need.

Note that you have a couple of options to do this:

    1) I can provide to you the instructions for doing this manually. Just be aware that it takes a little bit of work because you have to run quite a few commands.

    2) I can also provide you with a batch file that I wrote that will do this for you.

    3) Finally, I can provide you with a program I wrote that will do it all for you. The program has the advantage of being able to easily update many different editions all at once and making a single image out of all of them.

If you want any or all of these, just let me know .

    Hi geeks!

Due serious health issues, I have been incapacitated and unable to take part on the forums for past 2+ months. Twice have I thought that OK, I'm back, but have then relapsed both times.

Since a few days now, it's looking better. I am clearly on the mend, getting back to normal life.

I can see a lot of posts I have not read in my tutorial threads. In next couple of days, I will read all of them, and try to reply to those still being unanswered.

My sincere apologies for my absence.

    Kari
