OK, I get it now. That's when for you are already running WS and you need to reinstall using the Pro edition ISO.
After which the store allows you to get the WS upgrade.
Yeah - the quote above is from the Microsoft Media Creation Tool page. They tell you to install Pro and then convert using the Store.

If you don't already have a digital license for WS then you get the option to pay.

You can still (currently) swap back and forth using generic keys as long as you have a digital license for both - using the Store is just another option. It may become the only one (although I lost the link for that).

    Hi,

OK. Thanks. I guess I could give it a try using the generic key but my hardware is rather "modest".

I'm running it on a Core 2 Duo MacBook from 2006 with 2GB RAM - I don't think I can add 3 more CPU sockets or exceed the RAM limit - it is free upgrade for insiders so I took it.

    I like the name :)

    Hi,

    I like the name :)
LOL. So do I. It gives you kind of a status, doesn't it ?
I can't recall the number of times I converted Server editions to Workstation really. Those OS's were rock solid.
Never experienced a single crash from W2K onwards.
Maybe I should rejoin the Insider Programme again. Just out of curiosity of course.

    Cheers and thanks,
