Got it. Brink, I found these two batch file creation pages from the old 7 forums site. Are they still applicable in Win10 or do they need to be updated? Thanks!

    Hello,

They look like they should still be applicable in Windows 10.

    Hi,

It works for my the first shutdown after task creation but after that I never more can hear the sound...
When I go to Task Scheduler result is showing: 0x8007045BA (system shutdown is in progress)
If I run it manually I can hear the sound.
What can I do to fix it?
    Thanks

Hello IDILIO49, and welcome to Ten Forums.

As a test, does it work after restarting the computer to see if something may be interfering before the restart?

Could you post a screenshot like the one below?

Delete the task and create a new one.

The one below is definitely applicable to Win10:

Already did more than 20 shutdowns/restart and no sound played anymore.

    Already did and same result.

As a test I tried to change the user to System, and it works again the first time, note after last result was success 0x00, but later tries resulted in no sound and last result 0x8007045BA (system shutdown is in progress).
It seems shutdown is too fast...

I cannot produce "0x8007045BA" at my end. It is always "(0x0)".
Try disabling "Hibernate". Right-click on the Start button -->Windows PowerShell (Admin). Run the following command:
    powercfg -hibernate off

Also take a look at Event Viewer. Right-click on the Start button -->Event Viewer. Go to "Windows Logs"-->"System". Can you find the Event ID "1074" as shown below?

Yes EVent ID 1074 is on Event Viewer (otherwise I will not also see the result 0x8007045BA with updated time).
Without hibernate active result is the same.
I will play the sound maybe one time per each 50 tries...

@IDILIO49, I have no idea why you get "0x8007045BA". Are you willing to use the following workaround?

Create a desktop shortcut that will play a sound and then shut down Windows.
