    Hello @Matthew Wai,

    Good news!

You certainly don't need one for all users and one for the current user.
You need only one either for all users or for the current user.

    That is NOT entirely correct.

As an example, lets say that there is a family that has ONE computer and 5 Users [ family members ], and they ALL want to have their own Sign-In sound?

This is why I spent a long time testing and troubleshooting this for such a scenario. I have NOT however, tested it with more that 2 Users, but, from what I have tested, it would appear that the Conclusion I arrived at in my previous post will still hold TRUE for several Users.

I think that this needs to be pointed out in the Tutorial.

Each of them should select "for the current user".
None of them should select "for all users".

Exactly, that is the ONLY way that each of the family members can have their OWN Sign-In sound WITHOUT the delay or echo. In this scenario, there must NOT be an entry in the All Users for this to work properly.

That is why I recommended there should be a note in the Tutorial to outline and explain this.

I think that the Batch Script is ready to be added to the Tutorial as an additional option now, don't you Matthew?

I have written the batch script. You write the explanation. This is collaboration.

So what about the testing then, are YOU going to test multiple users against the latest Batch Script like I DID for the previous Version?

Perhaps you can also post the screen shots to be used in the Tutorial!

Your test results are reasonable and conclusive. No further tests are needed.

    Hello @Brink ,

Here is an outline of the Alternative Method created by myself and Matthew that you could possibly use for the Tutorial.

This is an alternative method to using the Task Scheduler. Besides being easier to control, one of the benefits of using this method is that you do NOT need to have a User Password set.

You simply select which process you want to perform from the Menu, enter the FULL Path [ including the suffix .wav ] of the sound file that you want to be played at Sign-In, and then press Enter.

This will create a VBScript that points to the .wav file to be played in either the Folder . . .

    Current User :
    %UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

    All Users :
    %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

    IMPORTANT:

It is highly recommended that you do NOT have VBScripts in BOTH the Current User Folder AND the All Users Folder as this could cause a delay and echoing when the Sign-In sound is played.

You can however, have several Users that can EACH have their OWN Sign-In sound, as long as there is NO VBScript in the All Users Folder.

Matthew has kindly posted the screenshots to use above.

Here is the link to the Batch Script => Play_Sound_at_Sign_In.bat

Thank you for the update @Brink, @Paul Black and @Matthew Wai .

Can the other analogous tutorials for log-out, lock, unlock, and shut down have the bat files modified accordingly as well please?
    Thanks!
